What if some of the biggest struggles in relationships weren’t about loving each other less, but about understanding each other better?

Join Dr Larisse Badenhorst (MBChB) and Ida Doyer (B.OT, MPhil) for a unique three-part relationship experience exploring the biology of connection, sensory differences, intimacy, emotional interaction, and nervous system regulation within committed relationships.

This series will help couples understand how each person’s sensory profile — the way they experience touch, sound, movement, emotional intensity, space, affection, and stress — can deeply influence communication, conflict, emotional safety, and physical intimacy.

Many couples unknowingly experience disconnection because their nervous systems process closeness differently:

• One partner may crave touch while the other becomes overstimulated

• One may need verbal reassurance while the other withdraws under stress

• One may seek connection through physical intimacy while the other first needs emotional regulation and safety

Rather than seeing these differences as rejection, distance, or incompatibility, we’ll explore how understanding your sensory and emotional wiring can create healthier, safer, and more fulfilling intimacy.

Across the 3-session series we will explore:

✨ The biology and neuroscience behind connection and attachment

✨ How stress and nervous system overload affect relationships and intimacy

✨ Understanding your unique sensory profile and how it influences your relational needs

✨ The three phases of intimacy and how sensory differences influence each phase

✨ Communication patterns, emotional triggers, and misunderstandings between partners

✨ Practical tools to improve connection, emotional safety, and intimacy in everyday life

✨ How to work with your differences instead of against them

Expect:

• A warm, guided, conversational environment

• Practical and science-based tools

• Insightful discussions and reflection

• A medical and therapeutic perspective on relationships and intimacy

• Space for couples to better understand themselves and each other
