Clients sometimes mention that they don’t really have ‘sensory issues’, didn’t need occupational therapy as a child, and that they are not impacted by sensory stimuli on a daily basis.

Nothing could be further from the truth! The sensory brain is the center for activation and arousal, therefore every single sensory message received throughout the day, directly impacts stress, brain alertness, and our ability to engage with, and adapt to environment and relationship challenges.

As much as our little ones need sensory play to connect with their bodies and the world, learn, and develop skills, we need sensory strategies to manage stress levels and adjust brain activation for productivity and connection.

Awareness of our subconscious sensory triggers and energizers, is the first step, and very often the only step needed, to change us from sensory sceptics, to sensory converts.
