Is it possible that our perceived unimportant and fluffy sensory needs, are in desperate and urgent need of scientific re-regulation? Emotions can not be calmed effectively, nor can cognition be accessed, if we do not first pay particular attention to our “anything but fluffy” sensory needs.
A regulated sensory brain is a prerequisite to a calm mood and sharp mind. The reptilian sensory brain is the entry point, the gatekeeper, of the brain. If the reptile at the gate feels unsafe or off kilter in any way, nothing gets through to our higher brain structures!
The sensory brain is bombarded just by checking our messages first thing, Every Single Morning….?! The world we live in requires all of us to become sensory experts understanding our own regulation strategies, and optimal environments. We simply cannot afford not to be aware of sensory profiles.
